Okay, so, with a helpful critique from another stocker, it's starting to dawn on me what proper stock is. Here's what I understand: It's used for manipulation, so, SHOCKER, it should be a blank slate, pretty much. No "dim lighting," "special feel," or anything else. I'd been trying to make my stock photo's too much like attempting an art photograph. And, seeing as they didn't turn out like outstanding art photographs, I made them stock. This was not right. It's harder to manipulate a dim lighted shot, and can be used for much less. In addittion, I'd shrank most of the shots because they were HUGE. But, seeing as someone wants raw material to work with, they NEED them big. Let those using the stock make the artistic decisions concerning size, color, etc. So, that's my lesson for today. Anything I've missed??
So, based on that, I deleted most of my stock shots. I was going to do the entire gallery, but I got tired of deleting them, and started putting them into scraps, but got tired of that also. I'll clean my gallery out later. I'm off to submit some raw shots, large and everything. They're not perfect, because I'm still learning and practicing, and critiques would be appriciated. But, now that I know a more proper form, I think they're at least a small step in the right direction.
